Our Farmers

Our Farmers

At Mettrick's we source all our meat from farms within the Peak District, the North West and Midlands, usually within 35 miles of our shops. We are proud to have direct relationships with the farmers that raise the meat we sell. This section of the site is dedicated to these suppliers.

To give you an idea how important we consider the supply chain, we know EVERYONE who handles the products in our shops. This picture shows farmers, slaughtermen, butchers, bakers and counterstaff our whole supply chain in one picture.

Turkey - David and Shaun Heap (Holmfirth)
Turkey - David and Shaun Heap (Holmfirth)
As with all Mettrick's suppliers, animal welfare is top of the agenda for David and Shaun. All their turkeys are reared on the farm and they have their own abattoir on site.
Beef - Michael Wynne (Padfield), Mike Salisbury (Hayfield), Sally Hodgson (Chunal), Mr WH Evans (Anglesey) & Mr H Sutcliffe (Antrobus, Cheshire)

Mettrick's source all their beef from The North West. All our farms suppling beef have been awarded the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark.

Mettrick's source all their lamb from within the High Peak, and all our farms have been awarded Peak District Environmental Quality Mark.
Porchetta - Taste Tradition (Thirsk, North Yorkshire)
Porchetta - Taste Tradition (Thirsk, North Yorkshire)
The taste of this pork is fantastic with just enough fat cover to baste the meat. John says, "I would rate this pork as my find of 2008 and would grace anyone's Christmas table."
Pork - Medium Rare (Staffs)
Pork - Medium Rare (Staffs)
As the Peak District is not a traditional pig rearing area, we have ventured further into the Midlands to source good pork. Medium Rare raise freerange pork
Chicken - Whitwams Farm (Huddersfield)
Chicken - Whitwams Farm (Huddersfield)
As with all Mettrick's suppliers, animal welfare is top of the agenda for Robert Whitwam. Robert's chickens have natural daylight and much more room than RSPCA Freedom Foods stipulate for their birds. Robert has an abattoir on the farm so he has no need to transport his birds live, which we think is very important.
